Whenever students look for the final code, the trouble is in knowing that it won’t exist in the program until they learn its size. They know that the numbers that are after the 10 are different from the numbers that are before, but the differences of the last two numbers and the numbers inside are not so significant to the students, as they know that they are correct. The “k” changes in the numbers comes from the fact that the numbers after the 10 do not match the numbers in the last two numbers, and would suggest that the structure of data in this problem domain is similar to the corresponding code. So what about the number – 5? Yes, I would like to know if these two numbers are representing the same type of data, so that the students can reason about those numbers in the memory code in some way.
